This year, I started off Thanksgiving by walking the North Shore and Buttermilk trails along the banks of the James. Here are some of the sights.
- It started out foggy.
- Headstones in the fog
- It stayed that way for a while.
- Even Downtown was hiding.
- This fungus is crazy cool.
- Then, over a ridge, we saw the end of the trail.

The fungus looks like the picture of Hericeum (class Basidiomycetes) in my old (as in, there were still only 2 kingdoms!) botany text.

No, you silly! It was just a simpler time; no need to confuse people with 6 kingdoms. After all, it’s still the same number of organisms no matter how many kingdoms we silly humans make up!
